Biography
|
I was born on the 24th of January in 1971 in Haarlem, the Netherlands. After my primary and secondary education, I studied Medicine at the University of Amsterdam. Following my internship, I started my PhD on the role of coagulation in cancer progression at the same university. I finished my PhD in 2000 and then worked for 2 years as a resident at the Department of Internal Medicine at the academic hospital of Amsterdam. During my activities at work, the importance of cooperation between caregivers, disciplines and departments for healthcare quality caught my attention. In 2002, I decided to change my job and I started working for the CBO. Since then, I have been working on various projects concerning patient and medication safety, patient complaints and healthcare quality. In September 2004, I joined the ‘Patient Safety Officer Executive Training Program’ organized by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement.
