Biography





Mr Michel has been Medical Director of the CCECQA since 1996 (www.ccecqa.asso.fr).

In France, he was in charge of the 2004 French national survey on adverse events.

He has been a member of the WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety from its start in November 2003; he is currently one of the five members of the steering group of its 4th action area “Research in Patient safety”.

He is a member of the cross-research council network in patient safety research (Dr. Richard Lilford, UK).

Mr Michel is a medical doctor. He holds a master in Health Economics and a PhD in Epidemiology and biostatistics. He published more than fifty articles in indexed journals, about twenty articles in other journals and edited several books



Description organisation



The CCECQA (committee for co-ordinating clinical Evaluation and Quality in Aquitaine) was created in 1996 by the medical and administrative authorities of the Aquitaine region. It has over 60 funding members (hospitals representing 16000 beds, 96% of the total public beds and 40% of the private beds). In coordination with the national and regional authorities, he is in charge of developing quality improvement and risk management projects for its members. Five action areas are implementation of risk management in the clinical activities, development of clinical audit and other improvement activities in patient care, implementation of quality and safety indicators, mobilisation and empowerment of patient and consumer associations in the healthcare system, and help to hospitals for meeting the accreditation requirements
