GP.24. Performance indicator for nososcomial infection: a national project
Performance indicator for nososcomial infection (France)
The design and the implementation of a dashboard on nosocomial infection including five performance indicators
are being developped and are part of a national plan against nosocomial infection drawn up for 2004-2008.
Three of the five indicators are already available in january 2007:
- 1 - ICALIN (Indice Composite d'Activité de lutte contre les Infections Nosocomiales) - an indicator of process, resources and activities entitled, first issued february 2006,
- 2 - ICSHA (Indicateur de Consommation de gels ou Solutions HydroAlcooliques) - an indirect indicator of the hand hygiene level, and
- 3 - SURVISO (SURVeillance des Infections de Site Opératoire) - an indicator measuring the involvement in surgical site infection prevention.
A league table has been created and the hospitals are scored. As the results of this score, including a mapping exercise, are available on a web site:
* ICALIN 2004 data for 2832 health care settings;
* ICALIN 2005,
* ICSHA 2005 data for 2809 hospitals, and
* SURVISO 2005 for 1124 surgical structures
An element of benchmarking has been created with public access to the information.
