More information

In this workpackage of the SIMPATIE project the CoE recommendation was translated into a practical and usable tool for the workfloor. The Recommendation was adopted by the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers on the 24th of May 2006 as Recommendation (2006)7.

The Council of Europe prepared 2 final reports that can be consulted independent of each other.

  • Please find:

      - Full Text (pdf) and a Table of Content which both contain text and appendices of Rec(2006)7, and
      - Full Text (pdf) of Annex 3 of Rec(2006)7 'Glossary of terms related to patient and medication safety'.

The Council of Europe presented drafts, developed by the patient safety working group, of the texts as mentioned above, as 'Recommendation of the Council of Europe on Management of Patient Safety and Prevention of Adverse Events in Healthcare' on a Conference in Warsaw on 14 & 15 april 2005 where input (pdf-file) was obtained.

For Simpatie's project purpose the english text has been transformed into a living/interactive recommendation. The aim was to provide a medium to inform for professionals, organisations and the general public and to collect comments on the text of the Council of Europe.

During the project, finally, input and co-operation was realised in between the various lead partners and (their) workpackages. In the early phase of the project, therefore, close co-ordination existed among workpackage 2 ('mapping exercise'), workpackage 3 ('recommendation'), and workpackage 7 ('strategy exercise') to circumvent unnecessary work and share ideas, experiences, and activities. In terms of results regarding Workpackage 3, for example, please see Appendix 2 of the report of the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) also.
